MyYoganess
About MyYoganess and my practice

Life is my practice

What yoga do you teach? I do not see what I do as teaching yoga.
I see it at as sharing my practice. Authenticity for me comes when sharing from the places that we ourselves need to pay loving attention to. For long my life was one of being disconnected from my body, unconscious about the programming running my perceptions and reactions to life and with no or little sense of connection to a bigger meaning. My personal practice is about
re-membering and re-connecting, integrating all dimensions of my beingness - body, mind, senses, soul. And to live more conscious and intentional from that whole. One moment, one day at the time.
There is a space in the heart where ecerything meets.
Come here if you want to find me.
Mind, senses, soul, eternity - all are here.
Are you here?
Enter the bowl of vastness that is the heart.
Give youself to it with total abandon.
Quiet ecstacy is here, and a sense of resting in a perfect spot.
Once you know the way. the nature of attention will call you to return.
Again and again, answer that call.
And you will know. I belong here, I am at home here.

About MyYoganess

The story of MyYoganess

My first yoga teacher training was Sama yoga and our vedanta teacher was Shri Swami Vagishanandaji. One of the wisdoms that impacted me most deeply, was the realisation that at the core of who I am,
I am already full and complete. I am not broken. I do not need to change anything about who I am. All qualities are already within me. He said that all the "nesses" you need are already within you, like the facetts of a juwel. What you need to do is maybe to turn the jewel around, so that facetts that has been kept in the shadow, can come into the light. Bringing all aspects of who you are into awareness.

I had lived my life until then perceiving myself as broken and not good enough in many ways. As I started sharing yoga I named my business MyYoganess. My yoga-ness is one thing to me, but can be something very different to you. We are journeying differently - needing to bring different qualities of our selves into light to find a sense of wholeness. I want the practice I share to empower you to find your yoga-ness. Yoga to me is not about learning perfect or advanced physical postures. It is about how different shapes and movements can support us to get into our body and the deeper layers of our being, to access and reconnect with its wisdom.

Every being is full and complete. All the facetts, all your –nesses, is already within. You do not have to change or become anything – only bring awareness to the qualities that you need, to find your sense of wholeness. Your sense of home.

About Åsa: my training & practice

Multi-faceted and multi- diciplinary

My work in this world is to be a catalyst for expansion and transformation. I am not a full time yoga teacher - I have been teaching for 10 years, but always in combination with my business dayjob. For some time I thought I needed to choose, but I realized I don´t. I am proud to hold both realities and do my work on both arenas.

I love leading groups, starting as dance teacher at age 16. I have over 20 years of experience as a teacher, leader and manager, as well as working with leadership development, adult learning, learning experience design and facilitation. I am a multi disciplinary yoga educator registered as E-RYT 500hr with Yoga Alliance. I have been sharing practice since 2011 and have over 1000 training hours from different traditions and teachers, as I am lucky enough to be able to invest in continued education every year. I bridge the contemporary resources from learning design, facilitation and leadership development with yoga philosophy, values and practices - applying this in the context of yoga experiences and also the other way around, in my work in the business context.

In tune with the seasons of nature

Nature is very close to my heart and has become maybe my greatest guide to continuously go deeper in self-development and for finding joy and sense of peace. My practice is to tap into the energy and wisdom of each season in nature, since a few years using the five phases of traditional chinese medicine as my main map. I offer classes from a clear intention and theme where I want all senses to be engaged and activated. Intentionally making choices on type of physical movements like yoga asana & breathing techniques, music/soundscape, choice of words, poems, scents in the space etc. Balancing this with following intuition in the moment to serve the needs of the group.

Thank you for showing up - I look forward to practice together!

The roar of joy that set the worlds in motion
is reverberating in your body
and the space between all bodies.
Beloved listen.
Find that vibration
Rising new in every moment
Humming in your secret places
Resounding through the channels of delight
And know, you are flooded by it always.
- The Radiance sutras

Gratitude to my teachers

I have the privilige to learn and find inspiration from a wide range of teachers from different traditions, offering their unique perspectives and insights.

Sky Akasha
Sama yoga

Sky is my first teacher, initiating me to the practice and yogic lifestyle and for this I am forever grateful. I open every yoga class singing the student teacher prayer as a devotion to him.

Sky is the father of Samayoga: the practices and disciplines that bring us to harmony and balance in all aspects of life as well as understanding the choices that bring us equanimity. Sama Yoga is taught intuitively from the heart, it’s a practice that brings you back to yourself, to land in relaxation, trust and contentment with whatever your life brings. Samayoga brings balance and health physically, mentally and emotionally.

Don & Amba Stapleton
Nosara Yoga Institute

Don and Amba Stapelton has been instrumental for my yoga and my life. I have had the privilige to do 500hrs of training with them, as well as assisting in their 200hr training. I honour Amba for her authentic and humorous way of showing up. Don Brahmanand is a master of pedagogy and intentional design of transformaitonal experiences. Every time I prepare the space for my groups, I think of him with love and gratitude.

The mission statement of NYI: to deliver an inquiry-based, non-autoritarian, yoga curriculum that develops the multi-dimensional Self. In a beautiful, natural setting that supports relaxed, non-competitive learning, we intend to deliver our curriculum in a way that strengthens inner guidance and direct connection to source through developing Witness Consciousness.

Biff Mithoefer
Jamtse school of yin yoga

Biff taught me not only the foundations of yin yoga, but also the power of silence, language, drumming and poems when holding space. I have done Level 1 and 2 of his teacher training and also had the honor to assist in his trainings.

Biff has studied shamanism with teachers of the Shapibo tradition of Eastern Peru, and is a student of cross-cultural shamanism, as taught by Angeles Arrien. The work by Arrien and her book the Four fold way has been guiding my practice for many, many years.

The Tibetan word Jamtse means kindness. It is the name His Holiness the Dalai Lama gave our project for the support of Tibetan refugee children. The word is made up of the words care and love, and for us represents not only the heart of His Holiness’s teaching, but the central message of Yin Yoga itself.

Durga Leela, Yoga of Recovery

In 2015 I had lost my health, sanity and life spirit, due to deeply rooted patterns of co-dependency. When choosing to leave the dysfunctional relationship that accelerated my illness, I actively started reaching for support to live a life in recovery. I learned about Yoga of Recovery and decided to take the certification training. YoR blends elements of the 12-step program, ayurveda and yoga. Much of the wisdom from this training is integrated to my daily life as well as my yoga practice and I often quote Durga in class.

Durga Leela holds the RYT-500 qualification, having completed both the Sivananda Yoga teachers Training Course and an Advanced Yoga Training. She is also extensively trained in Meditation and Vedanta. Durga is a Clinical Ayurvedic and Pancha Karma Specialist, trained both in the US and India and serves as the Director of the Ayurveda Programs at the Yoga Farm in California, since 2003.

Dr. Dale Hunter, Zenergy facilitation

Dale is one of the founders of Zenergy facilitation trainings. I joined Zenergy stage 1 and 2 trainings about 10 years ago and this truly changed the course of my work and how I lead my self and others. When training to become a Zenergy faclitator I got to meet and be mentored by Dale.

The vision that underpins all the work at Zenergy is ‘Whole people cooperating in a sustainable world’.

Dale is a pioneer in the field of group facilitation and the author of the international classic The Art of Facilitation which is one of the key resources in MyYoganess advanced Teacher training.
